The population of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) continues to grow every year, and as certain communities get more and more popular, some communities are almost overlooked.
The town of Oakton is located just 18 miles outside of Washington DC, and offers an array of activities that you cannot find in the heart of the big city. Specifically, the Evergreen Square located on Bushman Drive. Just off of Route 66, the commute is extremely easy if you work in DC, and only 2 convenient miles away from the Vienna metro station. At Evergreen Square, the homes are attached to one another in townhome style. Parking is also aplenty in this community, with street parking as well. Since Oakton is a bit further away from DC than McLean and Great Falls, there are plenty of things to do that are less expensive, and many are located outdoors. If you have the itch to golf, Army Navy Country Club and Chantilly Country Club are close by. Both offer more affordable rates for prospective new members and are beautiful courses.
Another feature that is nice about being in Oakton is the variety of restaurants and markets. One of the local favorites is a donut store that is relatively new to the area called Duck Doughnuts, that originated in Duck, North Carolina.
The public schools are Fairfax County which is ranked as one of the best in all of the US, from elementary all the way to high school. Whether you are new to the area and need an affordable home with good proximity to the city, or have been in the area for a while and looking to relocate, Oakton could be the place for you!
