Where We Live: Greenway Heights

Greenway Heights is a beautiful McLean neighborhood outside the beltway comprised of about 135 homes surrounded by parkland. The neighborhood was founded in the late 60’s and features various home styles, from the traditional Virginia colonial to the mid-century rambler, ideally site on half-acre or larger lots.  Greenway Heights has the feel of the country while still being close to Tysons Corner, the downtown of Northern Virginia.

The Greenway Heights Civic Association is a voluntary dues organization for the neighborhood that plans social events, maintains the entrances to the neighborhood and interfaces with Drainesville District Supervisor’s office and McLean Citizens Association. Greenway Heights is also close to popular Great Falls Park with its miles of trails and beautiful waterfalls.  An annual pass is only $30 and it’s a great spot to take out of town guests.  If you’re looking to make a trip, be sure to visit in the Spring to see the cherry blossoms when they are in full bloom!  

With this neighborhood’s prime location, you have quick and easy access to amenities such as Tysons Corner, downtown McLean, the town of Vienna, and Wolf Trap for performing arts.  If you want to skip town, Dulles International Airport is 20 minutes away. Tysons Corner and Tysons Galleria offer world class shopping, restaurants, entertainment venues, grocery shopping and a soon to open Whole Foods.

Head out to Great Falls Village for more activities.  Check out the Celebrate Great Falls website for the calendar of events throughout the year:  https://www.celebrategreatfalls.org.  We frequently attend the summer Sunday Concerts on the Green where you’ll see longtime friends and get acquainted with folks new to the community.  The 4th of July Celebration includes a parade in the day and fireworks at night - it truly is a small town celebration!

So far in 2018, 5 homes have sold in Greenway Heights. Sales have ranged from a low of $700,000 for a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath fixer upper on Old Dominion Drive to a high of $1,475,000 for a 5 bed, 5.5 bathroom renovated home with a pool and small pool house.
