Fundraiser Supporting Food Bus, Inc.

Join us for dinner to support Food Bus, Inc. with HBC Realty Group’s (Keller Williams Realty) Community Charity Champions on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 5 to 8pm at Pulcinella Italian Host in McLean to support Food Bus, Inc.  Enjoy dinner and know that approximately 70% of the proceeds from food and drink will go to the charity, as long as the diner brings the flyer for the event.  Click the link below to view and print the flyer.

After watching an enormous amount of food being thrown out at a local elementary school, Food Bus, Inc. was founded as a non-profit to try to connect schools with pantries. Food Bus, Inc. is a public charity and works to design, implement, and maintain systems by which unused/unopened food leftover from elementary school lunches is saved from being thrown out as waste and then redistributed to local food pantries.

“Any funding raised from this event will be used to work with elementary schools, both locally and nationally, to set up systems to reduce food waste, and donate unused/unopened food left from elementary school lunches to local food pantries.    Public education of school administration and district level food and nutrition offices regarding the legality of donating unused food is offered, along with the implementation of the Food Bus Toolkit which includes baskets, carts and a new refrigerator for every school so that the perishables can be stored during the week before they are donated.”

Food Bus, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recovering food, filling pantries, and easing hunger in our communities. Wasted food from elementary school lunches costs the economy over 2 billion dollars a year. Nearly a quarter of all elementary school lunches across the country are thrown in the trash, and Food Bus, Inc. was created in order to address this tragic loss of nutrition for the hungry.

About HBC Community Charity Championship

The Huckaby Briscoe Conroy Realty Group of Keller Williams Realty launched Community Charity Champions in 2012 as a venue to fundraise for local nonprofits.  As good corporate citizens, Karen Briscoe and Lizzy Conroy were searching for a means to support charities in the community.  The event is held on Tuesday evenings at Pulcinella Italian Host in McLean where a portion of the diner(s) is contributed to the charity of the month. Karen Briscoe and Lizzy Conroy were honored with the Corporate Social Responsibility award in 2012 by the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce for the work HBC Community Charity Champions has done and continues to do for nonprofits in the area.

Karen Briscoe is Principal of the Huckaby Briscoe Conroy Group (HBC) and author of "Real Estate Success in 5 Minutes a Day". She is an Associate Broker in Virginia, a Certified Luxury Home Market Specialist, and a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors. Karen began her real estate career developing residential lots with the Trammel Crow Company in Dallas, and in commercial real estate with The Staubach Company in the Washington, DC Metro area. Karen has a Masters Degree from Southern Methodist University and her BA from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri – her hometown.
