During the month of June, Americans honor fathers with a special day. The two fathers closest to me are my own father and husband. Fathers are often a child’s first super hero and to them possess x-ray vision, super strength, speed and agility, invulnerability and are capable of leaping tall buildings with a single bound. Everyone can benefit from having role models and mentors to look up to and emulate. Let’s consider how real estate agents can tap into these capabilities and be super heroes for their clients.
X-ray vision for a father is being able to see what’s really going on, often referred to as having eyes in the back of his head. A real estate agent can hone his x-ray vision by being in tune with the market and being alert for trends and shifts. Physical strength of a super hero correlates to the agent’s ability to power through difficult situations – even break through walls of indecision and challenging situations.
Speed and agility is achieved by the super hero and agent alike by being on the top of his game. One can move quickly when focused when in shape both figuratively and literally. It is a skill that can be learned and perfected with practice. The real estate market changes quickly. An example that comes to mind is the best houses almost always sell really fast. The agent must be alert to when one hits the market so that the client can move quickly.
True super heroes always have some vulnerability, that’s where the villain attacks. This is where the hero engages his powers to overcome challenges with super strength. The hero knows his shortcomings and takes action to rise above. Professional agents being human of course have weaknesses as well. What is yours and what steps can you take to overcome them? One strategy that has been successful for me is to seek counsel from a trusted mentor or coach. And like many super heroes, I am in business with a partner who encourages me and pushes me back out into the marketplace to do the best for our team.
The super hero effortlessly leaps tall buildings with a single bound. This happens when the agent cuts a deal that beats the market. Achieving the highest sale ever for a neighborhood or type of home is a super feat to be celebrated. So is getting a complicated transaction to settlement, truly a super hero feat.
