The McLean Crew Club promotes, supports, and operates the rowing program at McLean High School. The program annually involves about 80 student athletes and is recognized for its top-quality coaching staff, its dedicated athletes, and its success in local, regional, and national competitions.
The McLean Crew club receives no funding from the state, county, or school. Team members are financially responsible for all of the expenses associated with preparing for and competing in the regatta season, including coaches’ stipends, boat storage fees, equipment maintenance costs, insurance, transportation, and more.
Members and rowers participate in several fundraising activities in order to help keep membership fees manageable.
"McLean Crew Club teaches kids that working together in a community matters, as every rower in unison is needed to move the boat forward. Unfortunately, Fairfax County provides no money or resources to the high school to run the rowing program, where boats alone can cost almost 50,000.
That is why we ask for donations from our community to help move our program forward. We are grateful to HBC for the support and the opportunity to gather as a club and raise money to support our club operations so students can row."
--Karen Perry, McLean Crew Club President

About HBC Community Charity Champions
The HBC Group of Keller Williams Realty launched Community Charity Champions in 2012 as a venue to fundraise for local nonprofits. As good corporate citizens, Karen Briscoe and Lizzy Conroy were searching for a means to support charities in the community. The event is held on Tuesday evenings at Pulcinella Italian Host in McLean where a portion of the diner(s) is contributed to the charity of the month. Karen Briscoe and Lizzy Conroy were honored with the Corporate Social Responsibility award in 2012 by the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce for the work HBC’s Community Charity Champions has done and continues to do for nonprofits in the area.
