Where We Live: Bryn Mawr

Bryn Mawr is a large Suburban neighborhood which consists of over 100 homes in McLean, 22101. It comprises of the area along Tennyson Drive and Longfellow Street and abuts the heart of downtown McLean. It enjoys all the wonderful amenities to be found living in this walkable enclave, including the Bryn Mawr park. A heavily wooded park that features a tot-lot, a tennis court, paths, and is a lovely refuge from the busy Northern Virginia community. An insider’s tip, this park is often a cut-through for people walking (or biking as you’ll often catch me doing with my husband on the weekends), into McLean. It dumps you out right next to Balducci’s Food Lovers Market which is an excellent source for gourmet groceries.  While out and about in downtown McLean, stop by my office, Keller Williams Realty at 6820 Elm St and say hi! Keep an eye out for our monthly Community Charity Champions at Pulcinella Italian Host also in downtown McLean.

There have been 4 sales in 2017 ranging from $825,000 to $1,489,000. Bryn Mawr includes Single Family Houses of various styles and ages. The community was founded and some of the original homes were built in the 20s, but the neighborhood is frequently the target of new builds. Along with the many traditional styles of homes, the neighborhood also has some architecturally unique and Craftsman-style homes as well. A key benefit to this community is the high-ranking public schools as well as access to reputable private education institutions. Lastly, this neighborhood really shines in its accessibility. The residents enjoy an easy drive to Arlington, Downtown DC and Tysons, as well as easy access to McLean.

Bryn Mawr is a sought after location for builders with 22 homes being built new in the community since the year 2000. The original homes are primarily of the rambler, cape codes and variations of the split-level architecture.  I recommend taking a drive through the neighborhood to view some of the well-maintained classic homes.

The newer homes in the area are often lavish luxury homes often selling in the high one to two millions. Some are also very interesting architecturally. Artemis Homes has recently completed construction of a beautiful home at 6723 Tennyson Drive on a one-half acre lot.  The home features a 3-car garage, 4 levels of finished space and an elevator.  The appointments are top of the line.  The home is slated to be completed in time for a spring 2018 move-in.

Much of the reason for the high value of these homes is the location boasts phenomenal public schools. The neighborhood sends their children to Franklin Sherman Elementary, Longfellow Middle, and McLean High. McLean High School is ranked 2nd in Virginia to Thomas Jefferson, which ranks the 6th best school in the country. More information on the desirability and quality of the school district can be found here. (https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/virginia/rankings)

The HBC Group currently has listed 6723 Tennyson Drive, McLean, VA 22101 for $2,698,000. Please contact Karen Briscoe and Lizzy Conroy at 703-734-0192 or Homes@HBCGroupKW.com for more information
