scenic view of Great Falls ParkColvin Mill Run is a Suburban neighborhood to Washington, DC metro area which consists of just under 50 homes in Great Falls, 22066. The homes in this community all have over 5000 sq ft of living area, and sit on spacious lots, typically around 1 acre. The community sits off of Colvin Run Road a short distance from Leesburg Pike, conveniently located to Tysons, Reston and the local Village of Great Falls.
The feel of this neighborhood is very private for its proximity to DC and the beltway. The meandering streets only service this and the surrounding neighborhoods, so cars are sparse. The lots are spacious and the homes are large colonials. The neighborhood was built primarily in the late 90s, but it’s namesake Colvin Run Mill dates back to the early 1800s and is an active historic site. Learn more here: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/colvin-run-mill/site-history.
For shops and restaurants, you have many great local options. In Great Falls Village Centre there is the Old Brogue along with Katie’s Coffee House where many in the community gather for celtic music and conversation.   Most every Saturday morning you will find Cars & Coffee, where car officados display both classic and modern vehicles. El Tio Tex-Mex Grill offers outdoor seating in a casual setting.
Check out the Celebrate Great Falls website for the calendar of events throughout the year:  https://www.celebrategreatfalls.org/calendar/  We frequently attend the summer Sunday Concerts on the Green as it is a wonderful time to visit with longtime friends and get acquainted with folks new to the community.  The 4th of July Celebration includes a parade in the day and fireworks at night - it truly is a small town celebration!
Reston Town Center is a short distance away for catching a movie, ice skating in the winter months and countless other events for the community.  Bigger box shopping is available including Target, Home Depot as well as Whole Foods and Harris Teeter. It is easy to pick up the W&OD trail in Reston which will take one to Purcellville to the west and all the way through Alexandria to Mount Vernon to the southeast.
For the outdoorsy person, this neighborhood is amazing as it abuts Colvin Run Mill Park and Difficult Run Stream Valley Park. Nearby, there’s also the amazing Great Falls Park with it’s incredible overlooks and trails. I highly suggest you purchase the annual pass as it’s only $30! If you’re looking to make a trip, be sure to visit to see the cherry blossoms when they are in full bloom!  There are an abundance of amazing outdoor events, concerts, and shows held at nearby Wolftrap every year. For a full list, see their website here: https://www.nps.gov/wotr/index.htm.
In 2017, several homes sold in this community. The HBC Group at KW will soon list 1098 Mill Field Ct for $1,825,000. Check back soon for updates!
