Where We Live: Stuart Mill

Stuart Mill Road curves it’s way through what was once entirely farmland and is now serene residential homesteads. This neighborhood toes the line between far enough from DC to be truly quiet while still close enough to have access to activities and transportation.

This neighborhood has been built up over the years. Some of these homes date back earlier than the first World War and 11 have been built since the turn of the century. As most of the neighborhoods don’t have Homeowners Associations, the houses come in various styles,  primarily consisting of colonials and ramblers. The more recent homes built in the area have an estately feel, many of them very large and seated on 5+ acre lots. In fact, lots with fewer than an acre are in the vast minority.

Stuart Mill Road touches two parks, Difficult Run Stream Valley Park and Fred Crabtree Park. It’s common that you’ll find horses in either park and plenty of unpaved trails. Both places have some amazing scenery and are great ways to spend time forest bathing! You can find more information about Difficult Run here: http://www.rundc.com/Doc/VA/Fairfax/DifficultRun.htm and you can find more information about Fred Crabtree here: http://restonpaths.com/FCrabtreePark/index.htm .

This neighborhood sits near the westernmost border of Fairfax County that provides countless benefits to residents and visitors. The area enjoys close proximity to shops, restaurants and attractions in Reston,Oakton, and Vienna.  Most, including Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, are just a short drive away. The Weihle Ave metro is only a few miles away and the Reston Town Center metro opening next year will be as easy to access   This area has an Oakton address but borders equally between shopping, restaurants and nightlife of Reston as it does Maple Avenue in Vienna.

A gorgeous estate home on 2.7 acres, listed by Jenny McClintock with HBC Group at KW  will soon be available in this area. 11110 Stuart Mill Rd features 10’ ceilings, a stone fireplace, and an amazing expanded wrap around deck with gorgeous grounds!
