Where We Live: Lynwood, McLean

Lynwood is a subdivision of just over 50 homes in McLean, VA near the intersection of Dolley Madison and Georgetown Pike. These colonials, built in the late 70s and early 80s, are located a bit off 123 in McLean and sit on comfortable, roughly third-acre lots. These homes are in HIGH demand, even for McLean due to their amazing location.

Lynwood is just 1 mile from the 123 entrance to the GW Parkway. That means you are just 1 stop light from DC. A big factor in these communities being built were as a quiet place to live for people working on the Hill and DC executives. The community is also very close to Downtown McLean. In the business district of McLean, there are plenty of great things to do, including coming to see me at our office at 6820 Elm Street! Keep an eye out for our monthly Community Charity Champions event at Pulcinella Italian Host also in downtown McLean. If you’re looking for a quick lunch, I enjoy stopping by Sweet Leaf Café and Simply Fresh for their excellent Salads and Mediteranean options. For a more formal occasion, I recommend Capri Ristorante Italiano or J. Gilberts. If you want to cook at home, you can pick up groceries at Giant Food, Balducci’s, and stop by The Organic Butcher for a steak.

Another benefit is this neighborhoods proximity to Clemyjontri Park. Clemyjontri is one of Fairfax County’s most popular parks. The name Clemyjontri is derived from the founding donor’s four children: Carolyn (CL), Emily (EMY), John (Jon), and Petrina (Tri). The park is accessible to children of all ability levels and is the dream of its benefactor, Mrs. Adele Lebowitz who generously donated her 18-acre property for the enjoyment of all.  Friends of Clemyjontri, Inc. was founded to raise money and provide financial support for Clemyjontri Park’s needs outside of the Fairfax County budget. To learn more about the organization or to make a donation, please visit www.friendsofclemy.com.

Many residents enjoy the proximity to the Potomac School. The Potomac School is a K-12 independent school less than a mile from this neighborhood. This preparatory school prides itself on its diverse and comprehensive syllabus, emphasizing not just academics, but sports and the arts as well. Since 1904, graduates have gone on to schools like Harvard, Yale, Brown, and many more prestigious colleges.
