Huckaby Briscoe Conroy (HBC) Group at Keller Williams McLean donated $1,000 as part of their Community Charity Champions program to give back to local charity groups. Karen Briscoe HBC Principal, HBC partner Lizzy Conroy, and Jenny McClintock, VP represented the Huckaby Briscoe Conroy Group for the check presentation. Receiving the donation for Cornerstones was Adrian Chadwell, Manager, Corporate and Institutional Relations and Meredith Hovan, Vice President, Resource Development. The check presentation took place at the Embry Rucker located in Reston, Virginia on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Conroy expressed for the team: “Thank you so much Adrian and Meredith for such a warm welcome. I'm telling everyone about Embry Rucker and the great work Cornerstones does! Looking forward to keeping in touch and participating in volunteer outreach opportunities.” Community Charity Champions was organized by HBC Group in 2012 to support local charities and organizations. Over $100,000 has been raised over the last 10 years. Briscoe said, “Our mission at HBC Group is that we ‘Live Here, Work Here and Give Back Here!’ So, having Community Charity Champions donate to Cornerstones is a natural opportunity for us to give back to a great cause and to help families, individuals and children with a little hope.” Cornerstones focuses on three key objectives: Stability, Empowerment, and Hope. For Stability they helped 186 households with eviction prevention; 770 individuals with emergency shelter and rapid re-housing; 85 households that were homeless moved into permanent housing; and 1,295 families and 2,996 children with food and basic needs. Focused on Empowerment, Cornerstones has provided 70 households with housing and home ownership support; 108 affordable housing unit maintained; 285 care management; and 221 children with Laurel Learning Center/Affordable Childcare and Before-After School Programs. McClintock, a Reston resident shares this sentiment: 'The Embry Rucker shelter has been a wonderful Cornerstones facility in the Reston community for many years. There are so many opportunities for volunteers of all ages to get involved with their time and donations. HBC Group is thankful that our contribution will make an impact.” Adrian, Cornerstone Manager, shares this sentiment: “Thank you so much for the continued support. Your gift ensures we are able to be there – for food, to help people facing eviction or catching up on back rents, and as we work over the next month to help safely re-house families who have been participating in our winter hypothermia shelter and those staying at a Quarantine, Protection, Isolation and Decompression (QPID) shelter during COVID. We appreciate your support and care for the community and your partnership with Cornerstones!”
