Where We Live: McLean Manor

Located only half a mile from the downtown area, McLean Manor is one of the most desired neighborhoods of McLean. Comprising nearly 150 homes, McLean Manor features many architectural styles including split levels, bi-levels, colonials, and ranchers. The majority of the homes were built in the late 1950s and are situated on quarter-acre lots. Characteristics of the homes in this neighborhood include lush backyards that back to trees and spacious, flat lots that allow for outdoor living.

McLean Manor is in an excellent location, centered between downtown McLean and McLean High School. The neighborhood has an impressive walk score of 78, which is considered to be highly walkable. McLean Shopping Center is half a mile away and includes family-owned businesses such as McLean Hardware, as well as restaurants, coffee houses, Giant, and Total Wine. There is a cut through trail from Weaver to Tennyson, making it even more convenient to visit downtown McLean sans a car.

McLean Manor is also close to Pimmit Run Stream Valley Park, which consists of an 8 mile trail that leads into the Potomac River. Residents enjoy hiking along this trail, which features waterfalls and offers 3 different routes.

The neighborhood is conveniently situated close to major and local routes, such as Old Dominion Dr, Great Falls St, the Dulles Toll Rd, and I-495. The McLean metro station is just 2.2 miles away, with several stops in Tysons. From there, the metro can transport you to points south and east to Reagan Airport and Washington DC, and points west and north to Dulles Airport. Located only 3.1 miles away, Tysons features several regional malls that offer ample shopping, high quality restaurants, and entertainment.

The neighborhood is also a part of Fairfax County’s top-rated school district. Students of McLean Manor attend McLean High, Longfellow Middle, and Kent Gardens Elementary, which offers an excellent French Immersion program. In fact, Karen Briscoe’s son Drew enrolled in the program when it first opened in 1994!

In the past year, several properties have sold for land in McLean Manor, and the neighborhood is gradually seeing more new builds as the land value is greater than the original home. HBC Group’s Karen Briscoe currently has 6712 Weaver Ave under contract, with a list price of $1,100,000. The home has many unique features, including 2 brick fireplaces, large windows, and a spectacular backyard. With 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a basement, garage, and plenty of natural light, this home has it all!
